Parents of young boys face a lot of choices in extracurricular activities. Boys want to have fun, while parents want them to learn positive values and skills that will last a lifetime. If your son is about to enter first through fifth grade, or is 7 to 10 years old, then Cub Scouting is for him. It's for your family, too.
This is the first and the biggest of the three Scouting programs (Cub Scouts, Boy Scouts, and Venturing) from the Boy Scouts of America. In Cub Scouts he'll have lots of fun, adventure, and activities with his den and pack. But there’s more to it than that. Being a Cub Scout means he's are a member of a worldwide youth movement that stands for certain values and beliefs. Cub Scouting is more than something to do. It’s all about the boy he is and the person he will become.
As a parent, you can be assured that Cub Scouts:
- Involves a variety of family activities
- Encourages good behavior
- Teaches lifelong values
- Strengthens the bonds of family
- And as a kid, your son can be assured that Cub Scouting is fun!
Cub Scouting means “doing.” Everything in Cub Scouts is designed to have the boys doing things. Activities are used to achieve the aims of Scouting – citizenship training, character development and personal fitness.
Many of the activities happen right in weekly Den meetings and the monthly Pack meetings.
